Addicted - The Cannabis Trap: Why Youths Are Falling For It (Episode 3)
Cannabis use is becoming increasingly widespread and socially accepted worldwide. This documentary revealing the hidden harms, societal consequences, and the ongoing fight to prevent a youth addiction crisis in Singapore. On the use of capital punishment for drug trafficking, Prof Euston Quah, Albert Winsemius Chair Professorship in Economics at NTU, said it serves two purposes: one as deterrence and the other as safety. He said: “Deterrence tends to focus on the people committing the crime, on the perpetrator. But safety focuses on the victims, the feelings of public safety. If people feel safe, they have enhanced well-being. They are more productive, have more opportunities to go out, explore and have recreation without fear.” He added that recent surveys showing support for capital punishment laws cite safety as a reason.
